VOICES IN RECOVERY

Hear from those who’ve walked the path of recovery with us.

  • Life in recovery has impacted my life by letting me know I don't have to pick up and use, also they have give me a new outlook on what living really is. They have played a part in helping me see there is more to life. They have helped teach me the proper way to help others by bringing me a group of people just like myself where I feel like I'm not alone. I have found through them the true meaning of life and what it feels like to really live. I have been blessed to be a part of life in recovery and I look forward to learning more in the coming months to better help others who are sick and still suffering. The only way to keep what I have is by giving it away. Thank you life in recovery for giving me a new chance at life.

  • Life in Recovery put life in my recovery. Well specifically the director Tlyra Sims of Life in Recovery and Mother to Mother. I have seen women from all walks of life thrive at her program. I have always been a high functioning addict which is terrifying. I went to six rehabs and two stabilization units before calling Mother to Mother home. What I love about Mrs. Sims approach is she is fierce in her mission to make sure that we all have a chance to recover. She innerstands on a soul level that the system is fundamentally broken and ensures that we have everything we need to thrive. Especially love and connection which is the opposite of addiction. I have learned life skills that I was lacking my first thirty years of life here. People in addition are lost.. and at the root of our addiction is trauma. I specifically have gotten to see Life in Recovery host police trainings for Nacan. When I was in active addiction I was begging a police officer to administer the proper amount to save someone's life. I can not wait to see what her programs look like in 5 years as she is in recovery herself and has already saved so many lives. If my best friend had someone to pure love and guidance into her like I did she would of made it. She over dosed almost two years ago. We cannot get to as many people that need us fast enough.
